Founded by Paris C. Jackson, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in Chicago, IL comprised of volunteers who share a vision of a more supportive environment for those who have experienced parental loss.
We envision a world where grief is met with understanding, where stereotypes surrounding motherless and fatherless children are dismantled, and empathy and inclusivity prevail in shifting their trajectory.
Our support goes beyond traditional approaches to acknowledge the individuality of each person's experience. We lead with efforts to create a safe place so those experiencing parental loss know they aren't alone. Our efforts support emotional well-being, provide educational support, promote improved social interactions, and help break down stigmas surrounding grief and loss.
We will advocate for policies that support grieving families and raising awareness about the challenges they face to contribute to a more compassionate and informed community.
Millions of children worldwide experience the loss of one or both parents each year due to various reasons, including illness, accidents, violence, and other factors.
There are lifelong impacts of losing a parent that can truly depend on the support the child receives after the parent’s death far beyond the first year which becomes less likely each year.
In some cases, the loss of a parent can have long-term psychological effects, potentially increasing the risk of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
We aim to create a more inclusive and empathetic environment through community events, workshops and more engaging activities.
We've been working to de stigmatize grief by spreading awareness parental loss impacts and going beyond traditional approaches to acknowledge the individuality of each person's experience.
We're here to provide resources not only to navigate grief, but also daily life skills that challenge the statistics of people who experience the loss of a parent, especially youth.
